Hi, I’m Beverley (Bev) Mason, LRPS, the founder of The Polo Score and UK Polo News. I have been involved with polo in one way or another for more than 35 years.

I started playing polo in my 20's and after an accident I decided to continue my involvement from behind the lens, whilst still being able to enjoy this great sport from the sidelines.

Photographing polo is a great challenge, not only do you need to be aware of your surroundings at all times, you have to be able to pre-empt what will happen on the field during play, (you need a good understanding of the game), ensure your equipment is set up correctly for the shot, wait for the key moment to press the shutter and then 'hope' that you get the shot and all that happens in a split second.

Now don't get me wrong, the players, grooms, umpires, goal judges and ponies are doing the hard work, but I have to say after photographing 4-5 matches in one day and then sitting for hours reviewing all the shots it often feels like I've ridden a few chukkas myself!!
